rooted as one

My name is Carola Mehltretter and I will be biking through Europe on my Kalkhoff E-Bike, with the occasional support of trains and ferries, starting in March 2023. But this project is about much more than just a bike trip. It is my goal to meet as many Christians from as many different backgrounds as possible. I firmly believe that despite and with all our differences, we are called to be one.

I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one. I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me. -John 17,22-23

Before I planned this trip I asked myself, what my Christian family is doing around the world! What moves Christians in Sweden? How can I pray for my brothers and sisters in Spain? I don't have many answers to these questions yet, but I will collect them on this journey!

My Vision

I would like to see a greater awareness in our Christian world that all Christians are part of a community that belongs together. If we stand up for each other internally, pray for each other and have conversations at eye-level, I believe that we can best embody the message of Jesus' love. This does not mean that we have to agree on everything, but we can respect and try to support one another.

This starts with an awareness of who the people in our community are! My goal is to use  social media to create a digital picture of the Christian world. It is impossible to create a complete picture of the Christian world, but I think when we can relate one name and face to a different Christian denomination, it is easier for us to feel the connection that in reality already ties all of us together. I hope that the platform I am building can also become a marketing platform to point to many great Christian projects. My goal is to continue traveling after the first 12 months, but for this  year I will be traveling throughout Europe.
